2018 Run for Brightness
Date : 27 / 05 / 2018
Venue : Pak Shek Kok Promenade
Descriptions :
This is the first long run organized outside of the sports ground by the Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation (HKBSF). We have obtained approval and support from Hasbro to use the theme “MONOPOLY” for the run.
The purpose of the event is to promote the spirit and core values promulgated by the United Nations Convention on the Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities to all sectors of the community and to achieve a society where equality and communion are built across different sectors. More than 2,000 people are expected to participate in the event. The aim is to encourage school students, teenagers, family members, companies and people from all walks of life to team up to compete at the Pak Shek Kok Promenade. There will be people with and without visual impairment participating in the event. Visually impaired athletes will be accompanied by a guide runner to fully experience the concept of equal participation.
Since the HKBSF is a non-profitmaking and non-government subvented voluntary agency, we hope that through this event, we shall be able to raise some funds to continue our sports training programmes for the visually impaired of Hong Kong so that they could participate equally in various sports training and tournaments. Some of the funds raised would be used to support our visually impaired athletes to give Life Education Talks to primary/secondary schools and corporations. They wish to share with the teenagers and young adults about their personal adverse experience and to instill in them some positive thoughts on how to face life challenges and the positive influence of sports in helping them to live a fuller life.
